Look what we found cleaning out the cage today:

Surprise, surprise. Actually, 8 - 10 little surprises. We immediately put them back in the cage and Mom is nursing them without too much fuss.

Anyone want a teddy bear hamster in a month?

Spring has sprung!

O.O

...crap! New from the pet store and they didn't seperate?

I had one of those in college. His name was Harpo.

Even if we were neighbors, I've put a moratorium on any more animals that poop indoors.

EEE! Take more pictures when they get furry! BABY HAMSTERS!

[identity profile] tryst-inn.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, its official!

[identity profile] tryst-inn.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently not, I have two females and the timing means she came home preggers.

Pinkies are so squirmy.

Fur will improve their appearance.

Mmmmm...maybe? If we can get one that is *not* a biter( I haven't had good luck with rodents. My brother had a very lovey hamster, though. I liked her. Perhaps I can get one for my classroom. I'd have it at home, but, you know, wicked cat. (My school's year-round, so I won't have to worry about Summer Vacation.)We'll see.

I was going to say ...

[identity profile] trystn.livejournal.com 2006-04-11 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
As the DB. We can get a habitrail and some fun tubing arrangements no problemo. If she wants, we might take two ...

Aww, we'll make sure they're handled and non-biting, promise.

Teddy bear hamsters, cute and fluffy, white and grey striples if they look like their Mom.

Sounds good, I take it there's a preference for two of the same gender so you can keep them in the same cage?

Yes...but they're sleeping on [livejournal.com profile] trystn's side of the bed.

Where is this imaginary "habitrail" supposed to reside in my tiny house? She muses to herself...

LMAO I'm thinking of moving mine to the bathtub, in case one of the little munchkins gets loose.

The noises don't phase me at all, but hubby hates the wheel squeeks.

That would be the idea, yes :-)

wheel squeeks

[identity profile] wild-heart.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Dab a little Vaseline on the central hub of the wheel and it won't squeek.

[identity profile] wild-heart.livejournal.com 2006-04-12 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had 2 hamsters over the years, both with loving dispositions. One would sit on a shoulder or in a pocket for hours.

For real fun, feed them Cheerios. My one hamster was able to cram 23 of them into her pouches.

Yep, got mineral oil on it now.

Frankly, with his flightdeck hearing I have no idea how he hears it at all! Between the humidifier and the ceiling fan, all I can hear is his snoring.

Spent about 15 minutes hand-feeding the Mommy corn last night - when her cheeks would no longer let her through the tubes, she had to stop for the night.
