In a nutshell
Feb. 26th, 2006 02:56 pmOnce again, we're having trouble with our ISP. If I can get connected (big if there), the connection drops off unexpectedly. After one tech visit and several more calls to technical help, they think the problem is out on the pole or at least that's the new excuse. The last one was "the connector outside the house was bad". Another tech coming tomorrow morning, so not sure when we'll be back online at the house.
Saturday was a strange day, three of us found ourselves with unexpected work conflicts and had to cancel our attendence for a coven class. Well, they do say one out of four ain't bad, but somehow I doubt my HPs agrees with that.
Sometime around 4 am we received a call from the quarter deck, asking us to do a run for the "One for Another" shuttle, i.e. the drunk shuttle. We picked up the three men who had called, plus another one we "found" asleep on the steps. Turns out the last guy, F had no idea where he lived so after the third apartment complex I was ready to drop him off at the Military Police office, but we managed to find his home after some judicious shaking and screaming in his face. Not my best moment, but I was sick and tired of Octopus Boy, as the shuttle nicknamed him.
Sadly, on our way past the base, there was a rather severe accident right outside the gate - car vs. traffic box, with the latter winning. Very scary stuff. Not only did it completely shut down one street, it made a three laner into a 1/2 laner during the accident investigation. Fortunately, at 4:30 am that was more than enough to handle the traffic. No news, but of course, on any local or Seattle station on the accident.
Very quiet day in Ye Olde Bookstore - Dean came by to hang out for a few hours, but otherwise I'd be surprised if the day covers my salary, sadly. It may be a very close call, unless one counts the Special Orders I've taken today. Speaking of which, I'm absolutely floored that I've nothing to add for myself personally this week - I know there's books out there I want, but I'm somewhat ambivalent about puchasing sight-unseen.
Four coven events in March. I'm exhausted just thinking about them!
