Its SNOWING
Nov. 26th, 2006 11:22 am10:30 am - and the buns are not amused...picy goodness to follow this evening when it accumulates more.
1:20 pm - Update: The buns were mooshed together watching the snow fall from the warm enclosure of their bedding house when I left for work. Josh and Chicken are going to put up a tarp this afternoon to keep the snow and rain fall down to roughly half the pen, so they have more protection from the elements. I'll put down some fresh hay, though its anyone's guess how long it will stay dry.
1:44 pm - Its snowing pretty thickly, accumulating on the roofs of buildings and cold vehicles and I can no longer see the water of the Puget Sound from here. In fact, I can barely see past the buildings across the street from the bookstore. Flash is with me, trying out a day as store dog - so far so good. We've only had a few walk ins, given the weather, but they've all been charmed by him and his "rub my belly" antics. We've not sold a single book today, so I've had plenty of time to do my own book ordering. So far I've ordered: The Witch's Boy by Michael Gruber, Magical and Ritual Use of Perfume by Richard Alan Miller & the Mabinogi by Patrick K. Ford
The first one is just something I've wanted to read for awhile, the second is a sort of reference guide for my own incense making. I am absolutely furious that one of my favorite books recommended broom as an incense ingredient, given what Dana posted on A&J - its time for some new reference guides. The third is a bit harder to explain - my interests in Ceremonial Magic and KBLH greatly outweigh any interest I used to have in Celtic/Irish works, but it seems that I'd be doing a disservice not to at least read a great translation of the Mabinogi before calling it quits. I'll keep the books I've already got, in case my interests cycle back to them, but at this point its hard to see that far ahead. Dad will be a bit disappointed, as he likes to think that my entire world is encapsulated in being Irish and it does give us something to talk about as he fancies himself a Celtic Pagan, but frankly, the Oriental part of my soul seems much more intriguing at the present. There's an entire Judaism vs Celtia thing going on between my parents, with me in the center. Emily escapes it, as the Jew gene appears to have skipped her entirely. Perhaps its the inclusion of Black Irish blood in her veins, who knows?
