Rabbit movement
Jan. 19th, 2007 03:30 pmI hand carried five squirming rabbits out to their pen this afternoon, since Danielle still has the cat carrier. The boys were well behaved, but the girls were absolute devils - the minute they saw the pen they started squirming and growling. Rabbits grunt when you've pissed them off and Jet is particularly good at this as she actually squeals. The girls have no problems giving you a good scratch to teach you a lesson, though they won't bite even when they pitch a fit. Which is good, as I've seen plenty of rabbits who will draw blood when annoyed. Mental note not to have newbies handling the mini-lops for awhile.
I have to admit, I enjoy having them in the house and they are certainly cleaner inside but not even the heat makes up for having a nice large pen to play around in. There was a sort of binky spree going on, with lots of racing around and jumping. Spent a few minutes filling up their pellet, hay and water before retreating back inside to give them some relative privacy. I say relative, because I can sit on the sofa and watch them play without being noticed. And given that Flash's favorite place to nap is the back of the sofa, it a popular form of recreation around here.
Not looking forward to cleaning out the bathroom, though on the bright side we'll have lots of rabbit tea come Spring.
