Back to my old habits and then some
Oct. 27th, 2007 07:17 pmSpent the day running errands with Deb to tidy things up and price out options for the wood stove renovation. Still confused as to what we're going to do: a) keep the old woodstove or b) buy a new one.
The problem with the old woodstove is that its too large for the house and technically not up to code, which requires a ventilation from below the house. Buying a new one means delaying the project until I can afford to buy another for $600 or so. I'm working an angle with friends to help keep the contracting work to a minimum (i.e. boarding up the entry and installing the stove's chimney). My neighbor, Cheryl, has already volunteered to help me cut the carpet, put down concrete board flooring and build a retaining wall for the slate pieces and gather ocean rock as a surround. Still considering options for a wall protector - some form of steel or ceramic paneling, I suppose.
I've already had the "chat" with Mum about the project. She recommended I speak with Da, so I'll ring him tomorrow after work. Speaking of work, Wendy and Deb have volunteered to finish painting the living room while I'm at work. I adore coming home to painting having been done!
