Neighborhood Fun
Living in a private community, there's all sorts of odd little bylaws you get to live by. Some of which make perfect sense, such as not being allowed to store RVs, boats or other recreational products that do not belong to you on your property. The concept being, of course, that one shouldn't use your yard as a commercial storage facility. Sadly, many folks seem to have trouble with that one, as the community is constantly going after members for this.
Another rule has to do with running a business out of your home. The community ignores childcare businesses, as the interference for neighbors is pretty minor. You can run a little company, like I do with Triple Pillars, since you have no customers coming and going to irritate your neighbors and the only onus is on the rural route mail carrier who now has to handle extra packages.
One of the neighbors down our street has had a hell of a year. First they allowed their Rottweiler to get loose repeatedly, attacking people and vehicles. Including our van. Said Rottweiler was removed from her custody and now resides in the backyard of our notorious drunk driver, who lives two doors down from us, who allows the dog to bark all night long. Some improvement. Then she rented the house to a bunch of Navy guys who managed to get themselves kicked out for breaking the burn ban last summer no less than eight times. So now she's trying to run a small dog day care and play park at her home. Which explains the very tall fencing (without permit, mind) that was put up, complete with raptor wire protection. The community has had to remind her she's not allowed to post sandwich boards promoting her business at the community entrance or in front of her home. What happens now is anyone's guess - I never see any dogs over there.
The website has some very interesting pictures, probably a bit of photoshopping there.
