Bit of background: We rescued 4 chickens this afternoon, 2 of which I immediately rehomed with Bob to rebuild his flock (a Light Brama and Black Star). This leaves us with two lovely new ladies: a Silver Laced Wyandotte and a really lovely Ameraucana. Given that the Bantie Frizzles are in the Blue Shed Coop, sharing the heat lamp with the standards, the Bantie Barn is providing quarantine. Its a good way to bring the ladies into our flock in a safe manner and once Josh hooked up a heat lamp for them, its now quite comfortable.
Josh asked me to do a general check to make sure I was satisfied with the cold snap setup, so we headed out with the dogs and the camera. First we checked on the Blue Shed Coop chickens and found Bonaparte swinging on the extension cord in the entry:

Hanging out underneath a swinging chicken is really not a good idea, even when you are wearing a hat, so I tucked him back with his little gal, Pepper:

And of course, paid my respects to the Big Blue (he's actually very sweet, don't be put off by his glare, he's very willing to be petted and spoiled with treats):

And last, but not least, I sang to the Rhodies, who were busy gossiping (probably about the new gals):

Then, we stopped by the Bantie barn to see our shy Silver Laced Wyandotte. I'm really tempted to name her Lacey:

And our lovely new Ameraucana (a very poor pic of her color, mea culpa). I will take a better picture showing her beautiful coloring:

Thus satisfied all were safe and cozy, I ran back inside to get warm myself - Flash and Doodle at my heels. Gracie, that smart girl, was inside checking on her brooder chickies where its nice and warm.
