My last nerve
Dec. 29th, 2010 12:17 pmI've always been moderately amused by the fact that instead of getting depressed, I get angry. Survivor's mentality, I suppose.
Little Pipsqueak passed away quietly early Tuesday morning. She'd been weak since she hatched, had ongoing issues with spraddle leg and barely grown after her first week of life. We had hoped she was rebounding for a bit there, before Solstice but the last few days she'd been much worse. Despite that, she was a sweet, lively little thing who chirped happily when we came in the room and I've been falling asleep to her merry little song since November. Its a kindness and mercy that she passed, I know. Living alone in a brooder pen isn't a life for a chicken. She will be missed.
Gracie's original hotspot has healed, but unfortunately she's started two new ones in different locations. So we've upgraded the inflatable collar with a lampshade style one. Now her spots have a chance to heal, hopefully.
Broadstripe and I are going rounds. Our so-called Broadband isn't broadband, at all. Third world nations have better and faster Internet than we do. The week before Christmas, the DVR recordings stopped playing. It kept recording, but there was nothing there to watch. So they replaced the unit and that DVR would register 45%, etc. storage full, but list no recordings. They came again yesterday and it took us three additional DVR units before we found one that worked. And yes, I made him test each unit. Thank the Gods, I did. Add to that the ridiculousness of a $4.10 credit for not having DVR for half the month, 20+ minute waits each time we called, including when the poor tech called dispatch. Then for sheer BS, I woke up this morning without our 2nd tier channels - no BBC, no Bravo, no Military channel, etc. I was livid. I got a very nice call from the Regional Supervisor who basically politely told me he's as frustrated as we are and he's working to get me more credit. $100+ a month for this level of shit. If I'm not given a HUGE rebate for this mess, I'm calling Direct TV to see what they can offer.
Update: Broadstripe just called. They have to replace the DVR (the 5th one) because its a single-channel model which means I cannot watch one show and record another. So they are coming out tomorrow to replace this one with a dual-channel (this will be the 6th this month). Better they call to replace it before I figured that out, lemme tell you. Yippy!
