Thinning the flock (standard edition)
Jan. 3rd, 2012 02:28 pmFrom time to time, one of our neighbors behind us asks if we want to rehome any of our chickens with her - they like keeping chickens and aren't as specific about having layers as we are.
I've been going over our chickens and am putting together a list of chickens to give them. So far the list is at five.
Winnie, our Blue Wyandotte
Lacey, our Silver-Laced Wyandotte
2 Bantam Cochin pullets
Redchief, our Redheaded Blue Cochin
I'll likely be able to rehome another 3-4 (the Marans) this Spring once I know who is still in lay and who isn't to make room for more breeding! I'd like to get our home flock of standards down to the Cochins, our Rhodies and the Ameruacanas.
