See previous post for context -
One fine day, a sailor found himself outside a bar during his shore leave. Outside the bar, there was a statue of a beautiful young woman who had been singularly blessed in the bust by the Gods. Inspired, the sailor stole the Goddess away and brought her back to his ship, where she was painted gold in deference to her magnificent state and brought before the men in all her shining glory.
Thus began the Saga of the Golden Goddess.
On seas and on land, the Golden Goddess was stolen in secret and worshipped by men. Countless times, was she taken by her ardent admirers and on some lucky occassions, stolen back by her original worshippers. The most interesting of these many tales involves a theft at sea.
The men had gone on a night raid of the ship that housed her. Many were their number and included in that number was a young airmen, green and young but adoring of Her. During the theft, the airman was left behind in their haste, caught by the defenders of the Golden Goddess. The Goddess made it safely to the new ship, where she was brought before the men and much joy was preclaimed by the sea weary men.
What became of the devoted airman, you ask?
The original ship called the raiding ship: "We have your airmen and will trade our Golden Goddess for him."
The response from the raider ship was telling: "Keep the airman".
And thus, did the Chronicles of the Golden Goddess continue, with no further mention of the poor airman.
