You'd be amazed at how much hair cutting is involved in chicken raising. You have to give the Silkies haircuts so they can see, you have to give the Cochin ladies trims so the boys can breed with them (also for hygiene, they can't wipe their tooshies).
I had absolutely no idea grooming was involved. I knew Silkies needed a bit of a shampoo and blowdry for showing, and of course, the regular ladies need their dust baths, but this sort of trimming is just a bit bizarre.
