She is risen....
Jul. 23rd, 2006 01:46 pmFrom the sickbed. Its 80 degrees, I'm miserable and FINALLY starting to feel human again. And supposedly, the heat wave will break Monday evening. Having called in sick two days in a row (I am so unbelievably sorry, Dawn), I finally got into the ER for a round of antibiotics, double dosing Mucinex and a nasal spray whose name escapes me. I absolutely, f*cking hate sinus infections!!!
Now, I'm generally a fairly congenial person. Except when I'm sick, except when I'm been given the run around, except when I'm hot and except when I'm feeling guilty about calling in sick. All of these happened on Friday. There's nothing like a good mad to get one out of bed and targeting software online even with a temp of 101.2.
I called the Tricare appointment line only to find out my doctor was on vacation leave and there was no doctor covering her patients, so they told me to call the Clinic for directions because Clinic protocol does not allow me to see another doctor without their "authorization". So I called the Clinic, who alerted me there was no On Call doctor and no other doctors in the Internal Medicine Clinic could see me. Recommended I call the Appt. Line back and ask for a doctor in another department. Click. wtf? I call the Appointment Line back, they tell me that's patently ridiculous (which I knew already) and sent me back to the Clinic. After yet another round with the Clinic secretary, I finally gave up and went to the ER. Which I hate. Because no matter how understanding the staff is about the lack of coverage at one's regular PCP, everyone realizes that you coming to them is completely bullshite. Thank Gods this is the Tricare military medical system so its all free, because if I was paying for this out of pocket, I'd be furious.
The only good note of the day was the fact our medical center was taking part in a "How Are We Doing?" survey (one for each deparment), which I entertained myself thoroughly filling out while I waited for my prescriptions.
Thoroughly entertained myself *WEG* - be afraid, be very afraid, dear Tricare.
