Having been an insomniac my entire life, I've tried numerous and sundry techniques, medication, etc. to get through the sleepless night. Nothing works well, a few things work better than nothing at all.
Here's the problem: The minute I lay down I get flooded with ideas, inspirations, thoughts, conversations, etc. And yes, I've tried filtering, shielding, herbal teas, special pillows, etc.

So the other night I'm re-reading Dion Fortune's "Training and Work of an Initiate" (which I re-read before any Initiation and highly recommend) and found a passage regarding passive and dominant postures. Lying down is considered a medium, receptive position and sitting is a dominant meditative posture.

Now, I've read this book three times now and sort of blew by that. But finally, the material found its way in and stuck because it was finally needed. Perhaps I've been working so much with the prone meditations as a form of communication with the Ether that I've been given over the years, I've completely co-opted by ability to sleep lying flat.

So I've been doing this all assbackwards - I should sleep sitting and write lying down. And I'm not being sarcastic here. I'm going to try a prone posture for writing with my eyes closed and try to sit up more when going to bed. I'm beginning to realize how important the "vehicle of the conciousness" as Fortune puts it may be, aka ritual posture for the CM folks.

This might be oversimplification or it could be a stroke of genius, one never knows until one tries!

Seb, darling~

I adore you. I worship your slippered feet. I prostrate myself before your magnificent self in all your occult and mundane glory. I willingly bring you slave-boys a'plenty from the local and woefully inadequate stock.

That said - when you tell me you'll be here at 1:30 and I'm still waiting at 4:15 - could you pretty-pretty please call me and tell me wtf is going on?

Thank you,
*smooches*

P.S. Get a frickin' cell phone, will ya?
