Unlike many couples, Josh and I have a set pattern for celebrating events in our life. We sit down and each come up with something we want to do, then we incorporate them into the celebration. So here's how this weekend stacked up:

I wanted to go to the new bistro downtown - Dave's
Josh wanted to go to the drive in for a double feature
I wanted the circle finished this weekend
Josh wanted to hang out with a new friend from the base
We both wanted some "quality time together"
Josh wanted me to make his favorite Chicken and Rice Casserole

So our anniversary weekend?
Last night we went to the new bistro - very good stuff, btw, though the waitress was only pulling 10 volts from her brainpan. Followed by the Drive In - Dukes of Hazard and Batman Returns (not too bad, either of them) and today, Josh and his friend are going to work on the circle.

I don't mind the Drive In for several reasons. I grew up with a Drive In, which I have very fond and naughty memories of. Hubby really knows how to tailgate: we bring blankets, drinks, snacks, our basset hound (mostly to sit on my feet and keep them warm) and if the movie sucks, I can gaze at the stars curled up with the hubby for hours. Josh yanks the seats out of the van and we set them up, facing each other, so we can stretch out our legs under the covers. We sit on one seat, while Tracker sits on the other, comfy under the blankets and his head on my lap. The Drive In is a great way to see friends (since tailgating is very popular with the Navy crowd) and meet new friends and dogs.

Now Tracker, the aforementioned Basset, loves the Drive In because to him, this is doggie heaven. There's always at least a dozen dogs there, often puppies, folks are just sitting around ready to pet him, everyone makes a huge fuss out of him, and the ultimate: popcorn and nachos seemingly grow from the ground. And let's not forget, he gets to curl up on mother's feet and get rubbed for conservatively four hours straight.

Last night, the temperature dropped and it was the clearest night I can recall. I saw dozens of shooting stars, watched the clouds race in from the Sound and what may have been the local variant of Northern Lights. I'm not the only person who noticed them, so hopefully someone will figure out what these are and let me know.

All in all, not a bad way to celebrate a marriage :)

Now, unfortunately, I have a Tupperware party to go to at a neighbor's. I wish I was kidding, folks, but I'm not.
