Questions Meme

Name someone with the same birthday as you:
Babe Ruth

Where was your first kiss?
My birthday party - from my best friend through my teen years.

Have you ever seriously vandalised someone else's property?
Does putting sugar in an ex-bf's BMW motorcycle gastank count? If not, no.

Have you ever hit someone of the opposite sex?
Sadly, yes. I've broken a few noses in my time - I used to bartend/cocktail waitress and men have an annoying way of getting touchie/feelie when drunk and I have an annoying way of "accidently" hitting them with my drink tray when they do.

Have you ever sung in front of a large number of people?
Yes, I was a member of a professional operatic chorale. I absolutely avoided solos, duets, etc. at all costs! (Mezzo Soprano, btw)

What's the first thing you notice about the preferred sex?
The back - Men have such yummy backs. Strong wide shoulders, broad backs, tapering down to a small waist and vibrant tushies. Sigh...happy place.

What really turns you on?
A gorgeous voice. Hubby's got one, natch.

What do you order at coffee shops?
Chai Tea Lattes

What is your biggest mistake?
Being too stubborn to accept my parents' money (massive emotional strings were attached) and not go to college full-time when I was younger. Instead, I insisted on doing it "my way" part-time while I worked, scraped rent together, etc. One day I just gave up, went to the parents and accepted their money. Took me two years full time to get my bachelors from that point.

Have you ever hurt yourself on purpose?
I have a bad habit of chewing on the insides of my cheeks, started it back when I had braces. I find I do it less and less as I get older.

Say something totally random about yourself.
I have a dimple on my tush.

Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?
Oddly enough, yes. But no one ever agrees on who I look like. Back when I was a teenager I was told I looked like Nancy McKeon, which I sort of doubt - I do sound like her, however, when I'm really angry. When I had shorter, blonder hair I was told I looked like Bette Middler - which I think was more about accent and mannerism than actual resemblence.

Do you still watch kiddy movies or tv shows?
Hmn..I adore Disney movies and Lilo & Stitch movies.

Did you have braces?
Yes, for too many years.

Are you comfortable with your height?
Not really. At five foot seven I'm fairly tall, but I'm "supposed" to be taller. Thanks to a childhood illness, I never grew as tall as my growth plates would have allowed (5'11").

What is the most romantic thing someone of the opposite sex has done for you?
Took me to Key Largo to try out my brand new PADI diver's license and decide if I could marry him and live in Florida. Sadly, the answer was no. For friends who know my romantic past - this was the blimp pilot.

When do you know it's love?
When I spend the time away from him thinking "he'd love this", "boy, I wish he was here to share this with". This happened to me at SMF 2004 so I came home and made Josh and offer he couldn't refuse!

Do you speak any other languages?
I'm conversant in Spanish and Sign Language, approaching same in Hebrew. I can order drinks and shop in German.

Have you ever been to a tanning salon?
Tried it once. Felt like I was sitting in a microwave.

What magazines do you read?
Orion, Bark, Oprah, Entertainment Weekly, Parabola, the Beltane Papers, Psychology Today and a few Lodge newsletters.

Have you ever ridden in a limo?
Yes, had an extremely rich fiance' back in the day.

Has anyone you were really close to passed away?
Yes, I've lost two siblings and all of my grandparents.

Do you watch mtv?
No, my musical tastes don't run to mainstream.

What's something that really annoys you?
Two things -
Pagan folks who are "too spiritual" to work.
Navy wives who don't work, don't go to college, have kids they ignore and scream at in grocery stores, and how they balloon up to 300 pounds so they can get free surgery (lapband, gastric bypass) to get thinner. *shudder*

What's something you really like?
Reading good books in a bath with a margarita while listening to pagan music.

Do you like Michael Jackson?
Never.

Can you dance?
Somewhat. Depends on the music.

What's the latest you have ever stayed up?
Three days straight at a SMF Festival because my insomnia was acting up.

Have you ever been rushed by an ambulance into the emergency room?
Yes. I had a very bad allergic reaction to a strawberry on a date.

Do you actually read these when other people fill them out?
Definately, electronic voyerism is an interest of mine.

The steady drizzle makes the colors look fairly drab in the pictures, which isn't what they look like in person.

Where were you before you decided to put yourself last?

On other news, a LJFriend caught me on YIM and asked me why I haven't been posting selections from "The Azoetia", which I have been. Friends who only look at the journal via their Friends page will only see the most recent post, instead of all of them.

So if you've been wondering where your weekly fix of the Azoetia is, go back through my journal this week, I've posted three selections from it. And yes, I'm fairly determined to post three selections from either "The Azoetia" or "Ars Philtron" per week. Go ahead and nudge me if I'm forgetting.

Sorry for not posting a better LJ cut for the link, still working that out.

snippage of the column:

RELIGIOUS belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today.

According to the study, belief in and worship of God are not only unnecessary for a healthy society but may actually contribute to social problems.

The study counters the view of believers that religion is necessary to provide the moral and ethical foundations of a healthy society.
