PC withdrawls.....
Jun. 13th, 2006 10:42 amBack in college, the dark ages really, my Dad bought me a computer (my first new one) so I could finish senior year as my used laptop died on me right before the December finals. We named him Norbert, after the baby dragon in Harry Potter and though a bit dorky, he was a great little HP Pavillion.
Sadly, he got older, slower and started showing signs of having power issues (who can't relate to low energy levels?), so Norbert was ripped apart and some things added into a custom box build we christened (pardon the pun) Newbert. Well, Newbert is now ungoing yet another upgrade, this time to a DVD burner and a new boot drive (I had still been using Norbert's old one).
Stupidly, because I do know better, I forgot to bring the CDs for my mother board, NIC card, sound card, yadda yadda to the upgrade. So now I'm Newbertless, working on my husband's truly obnoxious laptop and having Newbert withdrawls while Big Dave works on completing the imaging. I am literally so upset by this I don't even have the time or energy to be concerned about my in-laws arriving in 4 hours.
Can I just start crying now? I'm trying to distract myself with a new pc nickname - Newbert needs a new incarnation. And no, it cannot be Nerdbert (hubby's suggestion, btw).
