They have hedge trimmers - fear them
Aug. 20th, 2006 10:35 amI awoke this morning to the sound of power tools and it literally took me a few moments to realize that they were coming from our house.
Its rather like being under seige by a gang of determined landscapers, frankly.
So far, the results are dramatic. Our bushy front borders have been trimmed into obedience, bushes and trees have been moved to healthier locations and the flowers growing over the septic drain field have been moved to the front border where they can be enjoyed. Probably the most startling realization is that we've discovered walls made of boulders we didn't know existed.
The men have been moving the various large rocks all over the property and have made proper borders. We've found a lot of plants that had been buried and overwhelmed by strangler vines: a madrona (very, very cool), grapevines and more. I sent them off to the local nursery for more flowers, bulbs and herbs, what they returned with is gorgeous and I can't wait to see them planted!
Now, if only the burn ban would be lifted so we could burn off some of this yard trash. Currently, there are two piles reaching almost as high as the fence!
