Official ducky masculinity
Jul. 12th, 2009 01:42 pmFirst thunder and lightening storm of the Summer was last night. Scared the crap out of the ducks who ran for cover and complained bitterly. Poor things. They don't mind the getting wet, of course, and seem to enjoy it when I sprinkle them with the hose.
Bernard is definitely a male - two curly feathers have appeared on his butt. Which he's trying desperately to hide with the long flight feathers by crossing them over the curlies. His head is also darkening and I expect green feathers to begin sprouting soonest. Kevin thinks I should keep him, as the first drake should have special privileges apparently. Now, I don't know about that so it's good thing we haven't found a duck processor lately. *WEG*
I'll try to get a pic of him later, hopefully it will brighten a bit. Right now it's raining with thick, low clouds. Not conducive to picture taking.
