Catching up
Sep. 8th, 2010 11:31 amTook a day to just rest, no computer and very few chores, yesterday. Some kind of stupid sinus thing that's making me sneeze, fevers on and off, etc. I've been making sure hubby gets off to the Navy in the morning with everything he needs, then heading back to bed for a few hours. Which needs to stop at some point since I'm screwing up my sleep schedule. Not that the dogs mind, they adore a good early morning nap. And a mid-morning nap, a late morning nap, an early mid-day nap, well you get the picture. Near as I can figure, we are exhausting to our dogs. Which isn't a bad deal when you're not feeling well. A Basset makes for a decent 4-legged hot water bottle.
We actually managed to get a teenager to come rake the yard. Granted, he missed entire sections and didn't actually spread out the compost pile as I asked, but I'm still in awe. Might even buy a lottery ticket. This is a momentous occasion!
Meanwhile, in all things feathered - we still have all 11 ducklings from this hatch. Much tougher this time, as its later in the year. I have an interested person with whom I'm texting, but we've yet to see anyone actually show up to look at them and take them home. I'm also hoping to sell the two Rhodies we rescued, or at the very least, re-home them somewhere they will be taken care of. There has been a Scarlett sighting, to which I am grateful. She's likely brooding somewhere. What precisely a Rhodie/Cochin mix looks like I've no idea, but it should be fluffy adorableness. :)
Construction continues with the incubator/brooder, thankfully it's still without NASA mission capabilities. We're scheduled to finish the electronics installation today. After that, we just need a hook and eye or other process by which I can secure the back door. Still trying to sort out how we're going to install the egg turner rack. Hmn. Picy goodness to come.
