Its already an adventure
Sep. 26th, 2010 10:13 amI am just the tiniest bit hungover. :)
It took about 20 minutes to catch the Ameraucanas. Not only are they smaller birds than the Cochins, but they are incredibly quick. Catching Luca was much easier. Ducks cannot dart the way a chicken does. As a workout, poultry catching is pretty tough to beat. We've heard a lot of crowing this morning, Big Daddy Blue is quite upset with us for nabbing two of his ladies.
I managed to catch a really cute moment between Flash and Amber as we were slipping about in the mud and getting scratched by bushes. Flash waddled up behind Amber, who was blocking the path, so he very gently pressed his nose to her tush. She turned around, likely expecting another chicken, and when she saw him she shook herself with agitation and hmphed at him. But she did move out of the way so he could waddle by, with a canine grin on his face.
I'm just catching up on laundry and other chores while I wait for the phone call to tell my my chickens are on the ferry!
