In between taking care of Tiger and Caroline, I've managed to get a very few things done around the yard. Please don't ask me about the house, I'm in denial about the state of things. Lick and promise time. I managed to clean the kitchen and do a bit of dusting yesterday, laundry over the last few days. Haven't unloaded the dishwasher, though. Done.

Today Noah yanked down the old duck pen in preparation of leveling the Northeast corner of the yard. Its always been problematic, as its the lowest part of the yard and all water flows to there. Which means it was seriously bogged much of the time and until we developed the compost area it wasn't unusual for standing water to pool there. Its not as mucky as it used to be, now that we've raised that area a few inches. We'll continue to build up, as we can. This should keep the roots well watered, possibly too well watered.

Noah also threw the old rabbit hutch, the one that seriously konked me on the head, in the fire pit. I will very much look forward to frying that bastard. Between us, we'd cleared out the area behind the blue shed coop and the side of Josh's workshop to make room for the new hutches. I still need to get the Northeast corner organized and tidied up a bit, we'd moved the stumps where we sit for bonfiring to allow for a safer big bonfire. Now they are sort of wandering about aimlessly out there. I also need to re-locate a few of the bin waterers and likely the kiddie duck pool.

Today's little joy was watching the now almost adult-sized ducklings swim in the sunshine. They aren't quite feathered out, with little bits of down sticking about messily. They are roughly 3/4 the size of an adult duck, but not yet put on their mass being quite svelte. Their heads are losing that baby roundness, their features are developing almost daily. Mama Wendy's duckling, Prima, is nearly her height. In a few weeks I'll be letting them out of their pen, in some iteration I've not yet sorted out but will likely be a bit neurotic about in the meanwhile.

The hutch builder has flaked out on me today. I hope she shows, as planned tomorrow.

Meanwhile, its begun raining. Living in a rainforest, its fairly predictable but I still find myself charmed by the softness of the rain here. Its an indoor evening tonight.
