These crazy summer days - picy post
Aug. 14th, 2011 06:23 pmA schizoid day of sunshine and overcast skies, the weather just won't commit. Thankfully, its been in the mid-sixties so the porch paint has dried. The men will be returning on Tuesday to give it a 2nd coat and paint the gates.
Met a lovely older couple today when they came to buy one of the Rouen females, we had a marvelous time chatting and hugged when they left.
Somehow, Big Blue seems to be getting even bigger! Here's him and a few of his ladies for comparison under one of our crabapple trees. They are all anxious for the fruit to ripen, as crabapples are one of their favorite treats:

And, of course, Scarlett came by to supervise picture taking:

One of our new Maran ladies, both of which are molting. Quite a difference from a fully-feathered gal:

The new deck paint, Behr's Brown Teepee:

And one of our two new gates that need painting:

Bunhalla/Duckgard, now with West Wing roofing (most of which you cannot see, sorry!). Only need to fix the fencing and install the front gate now!

The windstorms have taken their toll on our humble little circle, everything looks a bit drunk and disorderly. Once the deck and Bunhalla/Duckgard are done, I'll be putting forth some effort to tidy things up out there.

The Orchard Gate with its cheery peace prayer flags:
