T-Minus three and counting

Josh is finishing up his last week at the command, with lots of paperwork and last minute checklists to perform. He told me over Chinese at lunch that he had a lovely meeting with the Skipper today, stating emphatically that he believed Josh will make Chief in the next two years. Which would be a huge relief. If there was ever a man whose demeanor screamed "Chief" is Joshua.

I finally managed to find Rye Flour on the Island. Geesh. Only took six markets, I bought the last 1.5 pounds the co-op had. I also managed to get bulk yeast (pocketbook - yeah!), lovely glass shakers (for corn starch, flour during roll out, etc & kosher salt) and more rosemary. I have such wicked, wicked plans. (insert sound of maniacal evil cackling here)

And speaking of shopping - "Star Names: Their Lore and Meaning" by Richard Hinckley Allen is now available in paperback by Dover. $US 16.95. I've been so busy since picking it up this morning I've only been able to look at a few of my favorite stars, I'm already in love.

For those interested, the miracle bunny we rescued yesterday is rebounding. She's eating (pooping, urinating, all the important stuff), becoming more trusting and enjoying her new home tremendously. Score one for the good guys!

So tell me, my dear . . . would you be interested in sourdough starter? I woke mine up from the deep freeze this past weekend and it will be ready to be shared before long.

It would be possible for me to freeze some and ship it to you with instructions. I'm not sure if I'd have to do overnight shipping since I don't recall it being sent that way by King Arthur. Certainly Priority Mail, though.
