The joys of small town life
Jul. 13th, 2007 01:35 pmDeb and I headed up to Oak Harbor yesterday to run a few errands. Went by the bookstore to go over ideas for the Harry Potter party. I'm in charge of both front windows, mostly because I own all the witchy decorations - including flaming cauldron and a goblet of fire. I can't wait for Sunday to get started! I'm also in charge of the door: dividing folks into pre-orders, pre-paid and overly enthusiastic idiots. It surprises no one I get these sorts of jobs, I've been handling the door to these events for the last several book releases. *WEG*
"At the farmers market we ran into Jude, the Herbal Elder, and had a delightful time introducing those two and picking up more stevia clear. Jude's also selling flavored stevia in small travel bottles (rather like portable eye droppers), so picked up a chocolate and a lemon. Mostly just because I adore Jude and want to support her business. But I also think the little travel bottles are insanely cute.
We then dropped by the petstore - since the big sale begins this weekend, all inventory (not including live animals, one wonders how cheap the dead ones will go for!) 25% off. Deb was slightly confused as to why we were headed over before the sale. Tsk. I patiently explained that shopping is best done before a sale, so the day of sale you just march in, grab your items and head to the counter. Poor thing. She had no idea. What on earth are parents teaching kids these days?? Had a great discussion with the store's owner, apparently my favorite clerk chatted me up. He wanted more information on rabbit care and ideas for cages, etc. We had a great discussion about protecting the toes of rabbits from those horrid wire mesh bottoms (he promised to look for other vendors) and other caging ideas. He even said he'd try to get some NIC cubes in! If that works out, we'll finally have a local source - yee haw!"
All this, of course, is in preparation for our new baby bunnies: Thistle and Foxglove. There's an adorable pen I'm thinking of getting tomorrow, not to mention a few cage items (litter pan, etc.) Already nabbed new water bottles and an igloo. Not sure what kind of toys they'd like, maybe
