Fabulous fun weekend
DB arrived first, which was wonderful since Deb and I had several hours to enjoy her and hog her all to ourselves. Gave her the Bun Tour, which is starting to make me realize visiting my house is like visiting an animal preserve. Maybe we need signs. *WEG* A fabulous lunch (Sebos!) with Jeff (our PNO ritual High Priest) and fun stop over at the bookstore, quickly followed by a bit of naughtiness at the tobacco shop in town. The gals wanted to learn to smoke cigars, so I bought two Arturo Fuente Rothchilds and another softer, gentler cigar that's good for beginners. My taste in spicy, peppery cigars doesn't always chime with newbies!
Got back to the house and started madcap incense making! Triple Pillars needed a few batches made: High Altar, Hestia and Brighid. DB was such a doll handling all the ingredient preparations while I mixed. Thus inspired, DB made an absolutely GORGEOUS incense that is curing very, very quickly - its already deepened. Truly imaginative, complex, rich and exotic. Fabulous stuff. Kiya arrived just in time for nightime feedings and graciously made the rounds with me so we had a chance to get acquainted. Kiya, when you first meet her, is a blonde cherub of a voluptuous pixie: adorable, generous, gracious and naughty! She willingly chipped in to make my Aunt Bebby's famous fried chicken, which became the staple for munching all weekend. We then settled in with wine (courtesy of Kiya), dinner and a cigar for a hilarious night of gabbing and lechery. The mohel jokes when I clipped the cigar were many and loud! I even got to clean out the closets a bit and sent each gal home with an armful of beauteous stuff. Notably to DB I gave a gorgeous black leather jacket that just didn't suit me. If we beg, perhaps she'll post a picture of her bodacious bod in it, you think??
Settled in with DB for the night, Gracie acting as a sort of chaperone between us. Slept like a log and woke up to Flash and Gracie doing a marvelous, if hysterical, imitation of an alarm clock. After about an hour of their ministrations, we gave up and got out of bed. Coffee, tea and cold fried chicken later - we were gabbing in the living room again, idly looking through the Oprah magazines that have taken over the coffee table and wishing we had more time. The dogs are still visibly exhausted after all the pettins and loves, kitchen cleaned up and the house now feels a bit quiet and too big for just me.
In a word: Marvelous, darling, wonderful. We were thinking if we could have one weekend a month as Gal Time like this, it would absolutely rock our worlds and soothe our souls.

Okay, give with the fried chicken recipe. I've been telling myself for years that I'll learn to make it (we never fried ANYTHING when I was growing up), and you've whetted my appetite.
I'll bet I could fly to Seattle for under $200 if I could be flexible with dates and go with priceline . . .
WAAAAAHHHHHH!

First you'll need a milk & egg bath for the fresh or de-thawed (not frozen) boneless, skinless chicken. Second, a big bowl or ziplock bag of Bisquick to get a nice, thick coating. Fry quickly in hot oil until you get a dark golden brown crisp, then lay out in pyrex pans and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until you can cut through a breast and only see white.
Granted, I occasionally add a few herbs after frying (Italian seasoning works great) but before baking, but didn't this time.
This allows you to make a big batch in less time, with less fat since you only fried it for the crispy crust. The chicken will therefore be succulent, moist and sweetly delicious. And best yet, you really don't need to add any salt.
I know it sounds a bit odd, but its insanely delicious.

That sounds like a simple enough version. My main issues with frying are a) the messy splatter, and b) the smell of oil which lingers for days. However, I'm willing to give it a go.

Since you're only browning the chicken, the splatter shouldn't be so bad. At this point, all I can smell in the kitchen is Hestia incense. ;)
