Only three ways:
* The ferry from Clinton to Mukilteo (the mainland).
* Deception Pass Bridge to the mainland.
* The ferry from Keystone to Port Townsend (the peninsula).

And we just lost the last one. The Strait of San de Fuca is a riot of rough seas, windstorms and an incredibly shallow dock on the Island. Which means despite the fact that a deep keel would be very helpful through the Strait, the shallow waters of the Keystone dock makes a keel impossible. Ferries are canceled during low tide, its that shallow. Finding boats that can handle the rough seas but with a shallow keel is next to impossible. Because of this Washington has been using 80 year old ferries - most of which were built to handle Model T's, not semi-tractor trailers and SUVs.

Unfortunately, that means they've reached their end of useful life. Which has caught Washington State Ferries completely unprepared as they have had to remove each of the ferries on our run from service. We won't have car service on the ferries until after January, though we may have a passenger ferry on duty today.

Ugh.
