1st official day and its gone pretty well. Josh brought me his laptop and I've been able to jump on a Wifi network run by my webmaster Mark, who owns a shop across and down the street a bit. No printer, no phone (and no cell service in here) and no cash register. We're at the paper, calculator and pen level. I ran over to Wind & Tide this afternoon to buy us a Guest book, which is now proudly displayed on the entry table. I've sent Josh over to the Exchange to find a tall stool, as there's a tallish divider between the back cashier area and the front doors.

Lots of folks interested and curious, though I have next to no information regarding most of the art in here. And very few prices, though what is priced runs the gamut from $9 to $4000. Everything is gorgeous, as Robert has a great eye and is an artist himself. Unfortunately, his artistic style doesn't translate to product placement and marketing, so I've re-arranged quite a bit of the low and middle ticket items so they are more prominently displayed and accessible.

We even have a gallery patron saint in the everyman portrait of Uncle Howard. This is an old enlarged black and white photograph of Robert's Uncle Howard in a trim dark suit & straw hat, who was a VERY striking man of indeterminable ethnic background. Robert himself is African-American, but Uncle Howard looks a bit more Hispanic: possibly Puerto Rican or Spanish a'la Mexico's Hacienda era. Give this man a Cuban cigar and he'd almost look like a prohibition era gangster! I tell you, if I'd have had prints of this I could have sold a half dozen today! As Uncle Howard isn't for sale, I've got him back with me looking over the store.

Picy goodness to come, yessiree. Meanwhile, Uncle Howard and I wish you all a lovely day.
