Yep, but I'm not sure you could do much more than re-heat. The hottest we've gotten the top (and that was a smallish fire) was about 250.

Me, too. I grew up in homes with three or four fireplaces in them so not having a single hearth has been killing me.

Its very cozy, especially with a few drops of scented oil in the steamer up top.
