trystinnThe baby bunnies are now 6 weeks old, ready to go out into the world to new mommies and daddies. Much to my dismay and delight, even as I finally get my Sun Room back I'm going to miss the little devils. This morning Deb came and picked up Cadbury (the bunny in this user pic), she's been running errands to get all the associated things a good bunny mommy needs to get for the little bun. Hopefully in the next few hours she'll come by and let me know about their adventures. Cadbury is a cool little customer, very calm and absolutely tolerant as all get out. He didn't even wiggle when I put the halter on him this morning, so Deb could take him around until she chooses what she'd like to get Cadbury. Just looked up at me bemused as if to say "oh, and now this?" I'm thrilled that he's staying in the family so to speak, so I can go visit him whenever.
Now, when I say him - I'm guessing. We're going to get all the bunnies professionally sexed by a vet later this month but damn if I can tell at this age, I've been wrong sexing young buns before. Obviously! Loni is interested in the two spottie angoras, but needs to get permission from her new landlords first. Being spoiled silly by an older woman is just the sort of besotted life they'd enjoy - lots of treats and lots of brushing.
Meanwhile, Flash and I are sitting in the deserted bookstore watching the world go by. Our little island was hit by a ferocious windstorm this morning, its very cold and few people are heading downtown today. Fortunately I have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off - we'll be putting together more rabbit pens during that time. Anyone in the area with a few days off, work gloves and power tools are very welcome to join us. I'm hoping for two pens, one for Frasier (who is suffering bravely in the small hutch on the back porch) and a spare one in case we get another call to rescue a bun.
