Kennedy Park & the Aspinwall
Jun. 1st, 2008 05:17 pmKennedy Park, the location for today's hike, is the former location for the Hotel Aspinwall of Lenox, MA. A 400 room hotel built in 1902, it was sold in 1912 and burned down in the 1930s. In its prime, it was called "The Hotel Beautiful".

Today, of course, there's little left. A few stone foundations and cement pilons, a bit of clearing here and there, even a very rough bit of road left. But honestly, if the signs hadn't have told you, you would never have known there was a large, industrious inn on the site. The forest has taken back nearly everything and is working on what's left.
