Analysis of the Appointment...
Aug. 10th, 2005 04:35 pmThis afternoon's meeting with the college went somewhat as planned.
"They've not enough students to begin a graduate program this Spring, so I'm left wondering at the future of my education. There's a chance another 8 students will appear between now and November's deadline, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
Until now, I've been satisifed to take my pre-requisites outside of the graduate program - its cheaper to do so now and taking classes part-time has its allure. Waiting to take them after I'm "formally" admitted not only costs almost double per credit, it crams pre-reqs into an already full-time schedule to be completed within a year of admission.
The entirety of the Pre-Requisites for a Masters in Psychology: Counseling
PSYU 328 "Abnormal Psych"
PSYU 323 "Child Psych" or PSYU 324 "Adolescent Psych"
PSYU 310 "Learning Theory" or PSYU 317 "Cognitive Psych" or PSYU 333 "Physiological Psych"
PSYU 322 "Personality Theory"
PSYU 203 "Statistics" or PSYU 304 "Research Methods" or PSYU "Psychological Measurement"
PSYU 455 "Family Systems and Dynamics"
So I've gone ahead and registered for the one class they are offering this semester that's a pre-requisite to begin next Tuesday. Its too soon to fill out financial aid, or even begin work on the application paperwork. Those 48 graduate credits have never looked so far away."
Reading, waiting, little steps. Why does this all seem SO familiar? *wink*
