Home again and impressed as all hell

Bring somewhat sparse in handing out compliments, let me say that I have been highly impressed with how this Jury service was handled. Twenty-five folks showed up for jury duty, we were treated with incredible respect, friendliness and informed at every step by the staff. We were even asked if there was anything they could do to make us more comfortable! Hell, that's less than an airline would do these days!

Within 45 minutes of checking in, we were released for an hour while the lawyers spoke to the judge and upon checking back in at 10 o'clock we were thanked for our service, invited to stay to hear the case if we wanted to and released from jury duty for another year. As a high point the Sheriff who was called as a witness, shook our hands and thanked us for being responsible citizens. Now it might be an election year, but that was a classy move by anyone's standards.

Sigh. With a couple of notable exceptions, that does not describe my jury experiences at all. Glad it was so pleasant for you.

I was impressed. A whole 45 minutes of "service" and entirely pleasant at that. Even had a chance to chat with an elderly neighbor (Eleanor).

My husband even got a letter from one of the judges for one of the trials he sat on jury for, it's all a matter of where you are and who's running when.

I've been in KY for 5 years now and have yet to receive a jury duty notice. Lived in NY for 11 years and only received one. Maybe I'm just *that* unsavory.
