The Pack, revisted

Woke up to the dogs having a dust up this morning. Nothing serious, just the revisiting of the household hierarchy that happens now and then. Flash has been testing the boundaries of Gracie's Alpha role. Little things like demanding her attention, refusing to budge when he's blocking the path, barking at her when she's lying where he'd like to nap. I'd wondered if adding Libby would upset the status quo and while its been incredibly good for them, a resettling is natural when another animal is added to the household. Gracie has given Flash a few warning signals over the last week, growling and stares which he ignored. Her patience was shot today and she let him have it.

She pierced his ear just above the bottom edge. It should close and heal without problems, we'll keep an eye out for possible infection. Both dogs are acting very contrite, its been a quiet submissive morning all the way around. Flash and Gracie have made up, he's groomed her and cuddled up on the sofa after she claimed the leather chair.

Laura was a champ, kept completely calm, just separated the dogs without yelling or panicking. Frankly, with her background I would have expected some stress, something. Instead, she happily headed off to the local high school to help install one of her art works then she's off to another counseling session with Cada. I'm so proud of her.

Another day in the life of the Tryst Inn.

Nature is doing her thing. It was just your household's turn to have the morning display.

I'm glad that all was resolved with no more than a piercing. Actually . . . I can see Flash wearing a little gold hoop earring. And an eye patch. Yo ho.

Happens at my house all the time. Katie is still top dog even as arthritic as she is. Once in a while she has to remind the other two of that fact.
