Today started out fairly normal, or as normal as things get around here. Certainly more normal than yesterday, in any case. This is a good thing, since we're now down to two alarm clocks.

I just finished making pasta salad for tomorrow's North Side Discussion Group, listening to NPR, reading up on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and thinking its really time Josh got home from Safeco Field (Seattle lost to Chicago, btw, in twelve innings). Oh, and petting the cat who has taken up residency in my lap tonight. Fudge has a slight tendency to whack the keyboard when I stop petting him, so please pardon any mistyping that may occur due to my psycho cat.

"Infamous Pasta Salad

Minimum ingredients:
2 boxes of farfale pasta (though you can substitute easily)
2 cans of black olives, large
1 large bottle of Ceasar Dressing
Cellery Salt
4 large bell peppers (green, orange, yellow, etc.)

optional add ons:
fresh peas or sweet peas
minature corn
pepperoni slices
marinated chicken

Go ahead and make the pasta, you'll want it a touch al dente for the salad. After rinsing, put it to the side to cool down in a very large bowl. Chop the peppers into tiny little bits, and slice the olives (I like thirds). When the pasta is cool to the touch, add ceasar dressing and cellery salt. Mix. Then add the toppings until they are dispersed. Add more cellery salt to taste.

Possible screw up areas: DO NOT mix the pasta if its still warm. It will become mushy and ruin the salad. Also, if any olives are mushy, you have to eat those directly and not add them to the salad or else its bad luck! I know this because my grandma always told me its bad luck, then popped them in her mouth. Seems to be rather a popular problem, as it happened when she cooked all sorts of foods!

Always a fond favorite for parties and long weekends!"
