Bunhalla II - 70% of Stage II Complete

Today was an honest day's work: the green PVC corrugated roofing has been properly installed over the right (east) side as you look at the entrance.

East side

We'll need a bit more funds to procure roofing materials for the other side ($130+, not counting wood beams) so tarps have been very tightly strung over the west side in the interim.

West side w/Bunhalla bunnies

Tim, the neighbor's child to the north of us, came over to play gopher and had a great time.

Pals (Tim & Flash)

Martha, toughie that she is, gave Kevin (aka Chicken) her critique:

Confering

The Bunhalla bunnies have already been moved in, with the anti-raptor lights hung before we headed inside to wait for the pizza delivery guy.

We had one lodge student today to help, plus the Macks. Our other lodge student is coming tomorrow to help us complete the fencing (we ran out, go figure) and complete the rest of the work. Tim has several projects of his own, including installation of the rock border along the outside fencing, for tomorrow. With any luck, we'll have time and energy to finish tearing down the old Bunhalla. Unfortunately, we're expecting light snow and rain tomorrow, but we'll be working under the new PVC roofing most of the day. I've got to finish tightening the fencing, it's still bowed in places.

Stage III, likely to be scheduled for warmer weather, will include:
Gutter installation to collect gray water
Gate across the front
Cross beams for the front entry
Run water & electric back to BII
Place stepping stones between the house and BII
Hay storage area

That looks really great!

It's HUGE. The pictures, taken so late in the day, don't really do it justice. Each side is 18 feet (6.264 meters), as the posts are 6 feet (1.8288 meters) across so the Bunhalla bunnies now have 324 sq feet.

In another payday or two we'll get the rest of the roofing up to replace the blue tarps on the west side, there's talk of clear roofing in the center so the entire thing is rain proof. Pros and cons on that idea.

Thank you!

Anti-raptor lights?

We have a rather surprising amount of bald eagles and falcons here. They tend to prefer field mice, carrion and fish.

But I've never heard of anti-raptor lights.

Raptors tend to prefer hunting in darkness, especially owls. Throw up enough light and they stay away, as it bothers their night vision and depth perception.

Am I the other "lodge student" so mentioned? Lol, hadn't thought I'd managed the title yet. Methinks I'll start anyways and damn the Patrol training. I only do it at work anyhow.

Incidently, I found the training topics and discovered that not only had I already glanced at them, I've done lesson 1 last cruise. If memory serves, that was the one my Senior Chief yelled at me about because I wasn't doing my ESWS training, lol!

Yep, didn't want to identify you without your permission.

Very glad to hear you've done the assignment. How's the reading going?
