I'm lying in bed being serenaded to by owls.

That is so awesome. When I lived at my parents house there was a mockingbird who lived in the tree across the street. He was apparently on some other circadian rhythm than the rest of the world, because I can remember waking up in the middle of the night and listening to him sing for hours!

Ever since then, I have loved to hear a mockingbird sing his heart out to anyone who it near.

Thats lovely. I'm always astounded at how loud they are-except when they are flying. Then, they seem absolutely silent.

I've been serenaded these last few nights by the sound of the ice on the lake, groaning. To me, it almost sounds like whalesong.
