Incoming - new bunny

Never underestimate the power of balance in one's life. We lost Nyx this week and the Universe is already sending us a new one.

I received a call from a family in Navy Housing who realized their neighbors abandoned a rabbit on their front porch when they moved out. The gal who is bringing the rabbit doesn't seem to know anything about them, so our conversation has been very brief.

Sounds like a brown mini-lop, unsure as to gender. I will update this post with additional information (and yes, picy goodness) when the bunny arrives. I've already contacted Navy Housing Authority to see if we can get more information.

Update: Not only a No Show, but a Not Answering, too. Hmn.

Still waiting. :S

Did get a very supportive reply from Housing, they are as interested in tracking this down as I am. Hopefully we can get fundage to alter, if necessary, then from the original owners.

What would I do without the enthusiasm of the Flist? :)

Hell, I'm just hoping she shows up with the rabbit. I called her back when she was 1/2 hour late and her cell phone lost connection. I called back again after waiting another 1/2 hour for her to call and got voicemail.

*grump* That really makes me angry. If you can't keep your animal, for whatever reason - stupid or legitimate - at least make sure you take it somewhere safe. Abandoning animals is not acceptable.

*cough* Um, wow, look at that. Soapbox. Where did that come from. Oh? And a choir, too? I'm like magic!

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is the same bunny I got a call about several weeks ago who asked about surrendering a rabbit. I specified that it had to be fixed and even recommended our low cost vet to get the rabbit altered.

Now, here's where I get all conspiracy theorist - I think the gal who called today (and still hasn't shown) is the bunny's owner but she's looking to surrender the rabbit without having it fixed.

Thankfully, Navy Housing is working with me and I'm going to give them the cell phone records for the original call and today's call. Just in case.
