Lots of little things going on.
We re-homed our dear little lovebird, Aurora, since Libby has been getting progressively more clever at getting into things as she approaches her 1st birthday. Sadly, it was only a matter of time before Libby would have killed her so while I'm saddened at Aurora's leaving she is going to a friend of mine who adores birds and has a safe home (no cats!). *sigh*
Speaking of Libby, she has fully taken over the basset hounds as her slaves. She sleeps between them, gets groomed by both at the same time and even helps herself to their kibble now and again. Doodle has begun the process of relaxing into the home, he's no longer as anxious as he was when first rescued. His manners still need work, but he's learning commands very quickly although we're having a slight problem as he's so submissive he just won't make eye contact for more than a moment or two. He'll watch the treat, of course, but if I bring it too close to my gaze he'll turn away.
The littlest ducklings, the Swedes, have moved outside and are now quartered in the top of the duck hutch. Once they are a little bit bigger, they will spend their days in the brass pen and nights in the hutch. Hopefully, it will only be a matter of weeks before they are accepted into the flock and can begin their normal ducky lives. :)
We continue to have issues with Miz Martha (our Mafia Bunny) getting into the duck enclosure and eating their feed. Brenda has volunteered to give me a hand with the bunnies, so we'll see what we can do about securing the fence in such a way Martha cannot wiggle through. She's also going to help me with the general maintenance of the bunnies: grooming and nail clipping. Thank Gods!
