Found a late egg this morning around noon, one of the Campbells apparently over-slept a bit. It's a lot like an Easter egg hunt every morning around here now. I'm a little concerned at the poor production level, so I'm organizing the Winter flock.

I'm making arrangements to re-home Phil, who is going off to be a stud drake at a local farm who is trying to create new crested hybrids. Babs may be going with him, as well, as they are close. Phil is giving Brutus a bad time, challenging the big Rouen's authority by biting to grab Brutus' neck and chest feathers then trying to pull the larger drake around the yard. For his part, Brutus is pretty tolerant of all this but loses his temper on occasion and nips at Phil's huge crest. So that's -1 or -2.

If the lady comes for the Swedes, I'll be down to 7 ducks with 2 being drakes & 5 female ducks.
Which isn't a great flock ratio so I'm making arrangements to get 2 or 3 Anaconas ducks early next week, all young adult laying females. I also have a line on 2 young adult female Cayugas, but since the deal hinges on a teenager we'll have to stay tuned.

Brutus will be thrilled - Anaconas & Cayugas are gorgeous!

Next year, I'll likely just order females from the hatchery myself.
