My new car is now sporting yet another temporary registration, this one expires at the end of March. I did manage to get the dealership to throw in installation for free, once I bought the protective rubber pad for the rear bumper. Apparently, this dealership was caught up in the GM Motors mess - they are still waiting to be paid back to the tune of $250,000 for the dealership franchise since GM shut them down as part of the cost saving measures GM started last year. Because this guy is waiting for a check, he hasn't been able to purchase our titles to get our plates, etc. I feel for the guy, but honestly, it's been 90 days since we bought the Mazda.

In other news, as gorgeous as the Black Copper Maran cockerels are they really need to go. One of them has begun crowing, though it's relatively minor (roughly 10 minutes around mid-morning) which means I could have 3 of them going off any time now. Scarlett swoops in and shuts him up when he begins, as will Gracie who doesn't approve of crowing. Our neighbor to the south has put her house up on the market and I do not want a potential buyer dismayed by the crowing.

To add to that, one of the BCM hens is missing. *sigh* I searched the yard tonight with a flashlight and the three dogs but couldn't find her. I'll try again tomorrow morning.

Ummm ... non-issue, his GM problems. You PAID for tags and title when you paid for the car. He's had YOUR money for this transaction. Is there a local "investigative reporter" to shame this dealer publicly? Color me unamused ... :D

He's hoping to get the registrations by early next week. The gratis installation is saving me $100 so I've decided I can be a bit more patient.

The Universe must be teaching me a thing or two about patience, because dealing with this ongoing ridiculousness at the Navy gate (no base sticker without registration) is wearing down even my temper.

I've got a call into the Washington state DOL Dealer Complaint Department. I'm fairly sure that whatever the deadline is, we're really way over it.

Where could she have gone?

My best guesses: under a shed or porch, scooted under a fence or through, hiding under a bush or in one of the rabbit dogloos or doghouses (each pen has a smaller 'nest' for really cold temps which is rare, but happens). I'm fairly sure she's not holed up in the duck pen - I checked their dining shed and the nesting shed just in case (the chickens like to eat whatever feed the ducks don't).

There's a very minimal chance that an eagle got her, but those hens are dark coal black and at 5 pounds they are pretty big. That'd be a very unusual meal for our local raptors.
