So now the foot is broken, too
May. 20th, 2010 07:09 pmMonday afternoon the dogs were running about and managed to run into my right foot, right as I was stepping forward. The resulting crash was very painful, but not so I was too worried about it. For the next few days, I kept an eye on it, watched the bruising fade and thought things were sorting out even though it hurt to walk on it.
This morning I woke up to new bruising on the underside of my foot, so I drove myself over to the Urgent Care Clinic to get it checked out. Not only is it broken, it's dislocated - "funkily so" according to the ER doc. They had no idea what to do for it, so after 3 hours of waiting for an ortho consult they gave up and sent me home with a surgical booty, crutches and absolute warnings not to walk on it or I could give myself a compound fracture.
Fortunately, the pain is pretty mild to moderate, about on par to a headache unless someone nudges it. Ibuprofen is doing me fine, much to the doctor's chagrin. Apparently, they'd been holding bets on when I'd ask for something for the pain during the 3 hour wait. They all lost. Poor docs. :)
I'm to see Ortho tomorrow so they can decide what to do. *sigh* Meanwhile, I'm on the sofa with my foot raised and only getting up to go to the bathroom.
Crutches + arm splint = ARGH!
