I'm down with the ick, so I thought I'd show you a few of the eggs from our new gals:

Wow.. what "size" would those eggs be classified as? By comparison in this photo, those three on the left are GINORMOUS!

Given that eggs are sized by the yolk, I'm not entirely sure.

The Swedish eggs don't fit in normal containers, they practically fill your palm and they weight nearly what a goose egg does. The Khaki Campbells (the oddly pointed one) fall under the Jumbo size, Rhodies (brown) are standard chicken egg size. The Ameraucanas (green) aren't fully mature, so they are laying smaller eggs than they will at 1 year. The Hamburg egg is tiny, practically the size of a cock egg!

Beautiful. I grew up on Rhodie and Americauna eggs. I miss the delicious freshness. I wanted to have chickens, but it looks like it's going to be apartment/condo/townhouse living for me, so I'll live vicariously through my brother, who has chickens. When I'm crotchety, old and widowed I'll have a little house with some chickens and a goat. LOL.

I'm continuously in awe of how absolutely gorgeous eggs are, I can see why the ovoid has been a sacred symbol for millenniums.

We'll have chickens forever, at this rate, Don't you love thinking about being an old biddy with your flock? :)
