Josh's birthday is next week and I still have no idea what to get for him. Unlike ordinary folks, Josh refuses to do anyone the favor of giving us a hint or just saying "wow, I'd really love to have this" or "that'd look great in my den". *seethe* Honestly, if he doesn't start being helpful and I mean NOW he's going to end up with a new sheet set and comforter set because I need to buy those anyway. Oh, I'll go ahead and wrap them up pretty, yanno.

I may even threaten to get him his own chicken. :)

I, of course, have already given him a list of three things I'd adore for Hanukkah. 3 of 8 in early October, see I'm a treat to buy prezzies for! I'm also, if history repeats itself, going to have to get those at least two of those three things for myself. *sigh*

Anyone with better intel? Or suggestions?

I sympathize. My father refuses to make Christmas lists, so he gets:

- a tool we think he might not already have (and his workshop is huge and full of stuff, so sometimes he gets duplicates)

- a belt

- socks

- some new device (like a flashlight/emergency kit combo, or something) that we see on the way to the tool aisle, and think might be more interesting than another socket set

Ties used to be on the list, but he's retired now, so he wears a tie perhaps five times in a year, and already owns forty-odd ties. It seems wasteful to consign more perfectly good ties to the back of his closet.

Serves him right, I say. How hard is it to make a damned LIST?

Keith, so sorry you suffer through one of those kinds of Dads, too. Mine's the same way. We typically get him chocolate treats and a night out at a restaurant.

Gods, I just hate this sort of thing. Especially the "no, really, I don't want anything" crap. Sure you do. Even if its just something simple like a night out with the guys or a video game. Tell us something!

Hubby needs hobbies, that's all I can figure.

LMAO Well, it'd be consistent. I'll give you that. :)

My spouse, also with a bday next week, is impossible to buy for because he already has all of everything he actually needs and most of what he wants ... and hten he's very picky about the specs of the remaining possible wish list items. ::shrug:: Either he tells me something, orders it for himself, or he gets a card and a nice dinner out. Welcome to borrow the technique if you like.
