A few more things to mark off the list

Got very little done today due to cramps. Again. Grr. Did manage to steam clean the sofa and a few sports on the carpet in the living room and foyer. I finished ironing the living room curtains and even the fancy lace ones in the master bathroom. Ugh. Remind me never to buy lace cut out curtains again, though technically these were a house warming gift.

Waiting on Josh to finish a few projects so I can begin the deep cleaning. At this point, there's no point - he's tracking in dirt, tools are all over the place and there are piles in the way. He's been put on alert that he's to finish these by Monday evening. Then Tuesday & Wednesday, all we do is clean and go to the market. Thursday we'll finish any little tidying job before they get here (likely need to vacuum and dust, again) and call it good.

Trying to clean around projects drives me nuts.

It is the bane of my existence, let me tell you. My father spent my entire childhood and adolescence renovating our homes and I spent the entire time struggling to tidy up around whatever he was doing at the time, then clean the house afterward. One of the major reasons I moved across the country is he just kept renovating! And Mum kept expecting me to drop whatever I was doing, drive an hour to her home, then clean up after him.

Imagine conversations like this:

Tris: "No, Mum, I cannot come over tonight and help you put all the dishes away in the butler's pantry after Dad repainted in there. I have papers to grade due tomorrow."

Mum: "I understand, dear. I'll just climb up and down the rickety ladder by myself with my bad hip. Its just that I've been a bit dizzy today and was really counting on your help. But you go ahead and grade those papers, I'm sure its important. I'll keep my cell phone on me in case I fall so I can call for help."

Tris: "I'm getting in the car now, Mum. Be there in about an hour."

Mum: "Its always lovely to see you, sweetie."
