Christmas Eve in a bookstore .... be afraid, be very afraid

I'm leaving in a few minutes for the bookstore....I'm too old, too cranky and am frankly sick and tired of the whole "War on Christmas" crap coming out of some of our customers to work retail at the holidays. Its going to be insane and I know it. I will probably be placed on the register since I can small-talk the customers waiting in line with enough bullshit to cover the fact that we have one line for both the credit card machine and the store phone. And honestly, no one on this island has the guts to give me shit about how long its taking given my supercharm powers of dynamic personality, my height and steely gaze. That matched with my very firm school teacher voice, personality and hairy eyebrow does wonders on small town folks.

Damn, this is going to hurt.

"War on Christmas"?

*strokes hair, applies soothing poultices"

Just wait until the returns start . . .

Oddly enough, its calm in the store, not a customer to be found.

But what happens between now and 3pm - our estimated time of closure, is anyone's guess!

I'm sick of "both sides" of the "War on Christmas" crap (when I'm not so busy and rant will ensue)

I don't freak out if someone wishes me a "Merry Christmas", but on the other hand, I wish people "Happy Holidays" because I feel that it's inclusive and respective of those who celebrate other holidays.

I completely agree with you. Neither side is the winner in this.

lol well, technically, I'm taller than average according to statistical information.

More importantly - I'm the tallest gal working there, so I get all the fun 'tall' jobs.

You, however, are VERY tall :)
