My sister has been dating a young man named Josh for a little over a year now and long story short he proposed Christmas Eve! I'm thrilled for her. My mother cannot stop cackling over the concept of having two son-in-laws named Joshua. What are the odds?

Well - here's another doozy for you. Her Joshua had the exact same thing happen to him that happened to my Joshua last night. Shit you not. Her Josh dropped a pint glass and he ended up with 9 stitches for his trouble. Emily and I can't stop laughing over it.

Coincidence?

Do *not* let this man stomp on a glass at the wedding. He'll wind up in the hospital instead of on a honeymoon.

Well, it won't be the first time something like that has happened in our family.

Dad passed out during my brother's birth (via cesarean), so they rolled him in the corner until they were done with Mom and Shawn. They patched up his head, treated him for concussion, he & Mom shared a hospital room that night.

And yep, he passed out again at my sister's birth a year and a half later. Ditto on the above.

My step-dad and my uncle were both called Fred (and Uncle Fred is still alive), so my grandma had two sons-in-law named Fred, and my poor cousin Aubrae had two Uncle Freds! I also have two Aunt Sues (one is my dad's sister-in-law, the other is my step-dad's sister), and I had two Uncle Toms (one my step-dad's brother, the other my dad's brother), but both of them died. So, it's not totally uncommon, I suppose...If it's by marriage, sure, what can you do, like?

But that is a very odd coincidence stitches-wise...!

Too funny!

I have three Uncle Johns, four cousin Johns and a host of near-misses - Shawn, Jonathan, Jean, etc.

Ouchie!

I am married to a Rasmus and his sister just married a Rasmus, too. But her Rasmus isn't really a Rasmus. His name was Andreas. He said when he was a child, he decided his name was Rasmus and would not answer to Andreas. His parents allowed him to legally change his name when he was a teenager. He could have picked any name--why Rasmus?? He says he doesn't know why he picked it, he just felt like a Rasmus.

Yes, you can tell there will be no Rasmus Junior. I like my husband well enough, but not his name. :)

Hee hee. Don't tell my hubby, but I always thought Joshua would make a great girl's name!
