Being the only independent bookstore in Oak Harbor, we have a singular reputation and often get written up in the various local newsletters and papers. However, sometimes a few details get mixed in the telling. Case in point: One of the local senior citizen centers wrote up a nice piece about us, mentioning that we deliver.

Uhm...wha? Since when? Fortunately, the owner of the store is a veteran of such journalistic surprises and has stepped up and will deliver to the center on her drive home in the evenings. Given that Whidbey Island is home to dozens of such centers, this should get interesting. My personal favorite is when local authors get written up in newspapers and mention that we carry their book. Which, as it stands, is perfectly true. We carry their book: one copy, in fact, and it is already sold out. And so when folks walk in and ask about the book, I have nothing to offer them - I have no idea when we are getting more, how to contact the author, etc. Joy.

Our official store dog Flash is worn out, he's napping under the counter, having been thoroughly worn out by THREE little boys and two cutie-patootie girls in strollers. *WEG*

My mum, being Irish and Jewish, has no concept of personal shame. She regularly sends me catalogs with little post-it notes asking if myself or Josh could make her a similar item. This year, its chainmail goodness. The catalog picture is of a chainmail stainless steel necklace with grey pearls - gorgeous (retail: $260). Except Mum doesn't care much for pearls, so we've substituted turquoise (her request) instead. Josh made another one (smaller and more delicate) for my aunt, though its currently without dangling bits fun.

Picy goodness to follow.

Also, out of sheer curiosity, did anyone read any of my works on Literotica? *WEG*

You know, I very much wanted to drop in today and see you, because I was passing through Oak Harbor twice with my dad. However, on the way down from Anacortes, screwy sister Fiona started in with "I want to go home! I want to go home!" every two seconds before we even hit the northern end of town. On the way back, it was around 5ish, and I think you were probably closed by then, and we were at, of all places, Mi Pueblo, so a mere hundred yards or so from W&T...dammit! Well, maybe after PantheaCon?

Sounds great, I'd love that. ;) We close at 4pm, I'm usually there until 4:30 closing down.

A bunch of our Elders are going to PantheaCon - so I'd love to hear your take on the event.

Brilliant! I shall make every effort to get down to you one Sunday then!

Are any of your elders presenting anything, or are they simply attending? If they're looking for something to do on Saturday at 11 AM and/or 3:30 PM, there's always our Ecclesia Antinoi events, maybe...? Sorry, shameless self-plugging there...

But most certainly, I'll do a full report of the entire proceedings, every event that I attend, etc. (And knowing what I'm like, that might be the equivalent of 15 pages of typing...!)

I have absolutely no idea if they are presenting anything - though I think you'd all enjoy chatting together. I know Marshall teaches a wonderful Runes workshop based on Diana Paxson's work, not sure if he's offering it this Pantheacon. He's been teaching it in Seattle.

Btw, if you're available on the 24th - we're having a Meet & Greet for BTW Seekers. I know you're not interested in BTW, but it would still be some great folks to meet.

My good friend [livejournal.com profile] erynn999 knows Diana Paxson very well, so I'm looking forward to meeting her down there. But I'll keep my ear out for Marshall as well!

Re: the 24th--where will you be having that? I don't think I've got anything planned for that day at this stage (not 100% sure though until I get back), so that might just be a nice occasion on which to get together. I shall make a note of it!

Its either at our home, south of Oak Harbor, or at a home in Greenbank. Waiting to hear news.
