Where we stand...
Feb. 10th, 2005 06:53 pmWell, here's what happened today:
We met up with the real estate agent early this morning (so no water aerobics - sniff) to go look at the big house in Rolling Hills. I'm still somewhat ambivalent about the house, but warming to the idea. The concept that the place has NO landscaping other than grass is just bizarre, which sums up most of the new construction. Seems most of the developers have the half-assed assumption that because of the weather in the Northwest (i.e. rain) none of us are interested in having our precious sunshine blocked by something like TREES. Talk about a**holes...they probably believe Regan's mistaken idea that trees suck up all the oxygen. Makes you wonder why there aren't any laws about protecting the forests here...
I'm really unimpressed with the bathrooms. Other than a large walk in closet in the master bathroom, the fixtures and shower stall is all cheap shit. Nothing more impressive than what we have in the apartment (a very cheap complex) with the added annoyance of a beautiful vanity that's crowned by cheap fixtures. Ugh... Really, a Master Bath in a new home really ought to look like a sumptuous place of beauty and luxury. This REALLY didn't feel like anything other than cheap masquerading in chic disguise. It felt more like mid-range hotel, to be frank.
And then comes the really horrible surprise - the garage isn't sealed. Stand in the middle of the garage with the lights off and the door down and you can see sunlight around the foundation and through the peak of the roof. Not to mention where the foundation is at its most unsealed is RIGHT NEXT TO THE WATER HEATER. THE VERY SMALL WATER HEATER, to add insult to injury.
But, Josh still wants it. So we wrote up an offer that really graces us - recall the house has been on the market for 6 months. Plus the 1 year warranty. We should know by 9 pm Friday.
I really don't know if I'm wishing they accept our offer or not.
