Last night was the best bonfire yet - had about a dozen folks show up, though I try not to qualify such events by quantity. Right about dusk, Josh and Kevin headed out to go snag one of the many electrical pole segments littering the neighborhood. I'm sure that's the sort of thing the contractors had in mind when they left them on the side of the road. Even so, I'll be happier when it's finally in ashes.

Kevin and Josh had a wee bit too much of the dram, as they say. Josh is slow moving and nursing a sour tummy today. I'm trying not to lord it too much over him. I'm one of those Irish gals with a killer tolerance to alcohol, which makes it almost useless for me to drink. I also, btw, drank water in between vodka mixes which the boys didn't bother to do.

We got through a little more than half the burn pile, which I'm thrilled by. Would have done it again tonight but we were rained out this afternoon. Big Dave had some great news, there's a good chance he'll be promoted soon, in which case he can hire me back onto the base. This is a best scenario job for me, so I'm begging for all good thoughts and energies for his success (and mine!)

I really do wish we could have a bonfire every weekend. I'm filled with an almost ecstatic energy today.

bonfires, when well managed, are great things....
glad yours went well, and drinking the water makes all the diff 9so do B vitamins) i was told drink a glass of water for every alchoholic drink, and you wont get sick. i usually add a B vitamin to that....

as to the "he gets promoted, you get a job" thing.. WOO! positive thoughts to you both!

I've been asked to host a drum circle and I'm awfully tempted as I'm a rather poor drummer, so more bonfires in our future!

Thanks, Big Dave and I go way back - I hired him to work for NMCI, so now he's returning the favor. He also, btw, vetted my hubby back when we first started dating. I adore him and his family, so it would be heaven to work together again.

*cross fingers*

If you wind up working on the base, will you be moving?

Nope, we live about 20 minutes south of the NAS Whidbey base.
