Dozer Update
Mar. 5th, 2009 11:38 amWhat strikes me over the last 24 hours is how naturally Dozer has moved into the dog pack. He is submissive to both Gracie and Flash, very people oriented and just game as all hell. He's a little confused about basic commands like - out, sit, down, etc. but then he's still in OMG mode. I will explain.
*OMG - There's a YARD!*OMG - I have a DAD!*OMG - We get to go to the PARK!*OMG - There's SOFAS!*OMG - TREATS!*OMG - There are CATS!*OMG - I get PETTINS!*
He also, much to Flash's disbelief, has decided that he should pretty much follow Flash around constantly. Flash as a role model, geesh. Dozer doesn't (so far) have as much personality of Flash or Tracker, but he's a sweet guy. He did amazingly well at the dog park yesterday afternoon, where I took the dogs to play for three hours. Granted, when I checked his feet when we got home the pads were a bit pink. Poor thing hasn't had any real exercise in ages. And stupidly, no one at WAIF bothered to clip his claws. His insanely long dewclaws were rubbing his paw pads raw in spots so Josh and I took care of that last night. To which, Dozer was completely calm (read: exhausted) and well behaved. At one point, I looked over at Flash (the drama queen when his nails are clipped) and he looked away guiltily.
What broke my heart yesterday: I called WAIF to tell them how well he is doing and immediately they asked "is he not working out already? Do you need to return him today?" Ugh.
